Autumn
Morning all! Jason D. Moore has a blog at: http://jasondmoore.com/blog/ that I think is worth checking out. Bi-monthly he has different contributors post a picture to a common theme, which this time is "Autumn".
Since I still am the only member of the Muskogee Shutterbug Club contributing to this blog I needed some new photos to post to keep this going. . . So I guess that's up to me to take some new photos. Oh darn!
I know that this is a pretty lame photo, but for those of you not in Oklahoma, this is a pretty colorless year for fall color. This tree has the unique quality of always starting with red on the west end and then finally going completely red. We planted this tree about 4 years ago, and I'm not sure why it leans to the west either, our prevailing winds are out of the south in summer and north in the winter, but the house shelters it from the north wind.

"Swallowtail"
This photo of mine took 1st place in September in the Class B division. The Class B division is for most new members and amateur photographers. I'm in that category for now. Each 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Honorable Mention, plus submitting a photo is given a specific number of points. I know that at some magical number at the end of the year some with the required number of points will be moved up to Class A for the next year.
Again, I took this in my backyard around noon. I just had gone out the back door of the patio and here was this beautiful butterfly on one of the zinnias that was growing along the path to the tool shed. It posed for me just long enough to take two photos, one which was out of focus and this one. Lucky me!

"The Standoff"
I was busy being a dentist today so that's why I'm posting this so late.
This is a pair of humming birds that came to our feeders this past summer. Amazing how all summer they are so territorial and about the 15th of August they don't mind other birds being on the feeder at the same time. This is also the latest they have ever stayed, the last ones left October 12th.
This photo was entered in September's competition and came in 3rd.

"The Chase"
It is a bit cool in our part of the country this morning. We aren't used to almost freezing temperatures this time of year. I have not had any luck in getting others in our Shutterbug Club to submit me any photos so I'll just keep putting up mine. This was taken in August one afternoon in my yard. I chased these two butterflies all around the yard and finally got this one photo. These two were almost inseparable, I was trying to get just the one and they wouldn't separate. I received a Honorable Mention for "The Chase" during September's competition.

Sunset
Now we will see aof my photo that didn't get any place in last months category,"Sunsets". I've run out of winners for now unless I go back one month, which I may do next week in order to keep the posting going until I get other members photos.
This photo was taken in the Sears parking lot looking west, of course. That is an old church on the top of the hill in the left background. I was there shooting Citizens Security Bank for some advertising photos they were wanting me to take. As it turned out, they wanted a daytime photo when the azaleas were in full bloom. On well, I like how this sunset turned out.

"Out My Back Door"
This literally was taken out my back door. Friends and fellow Shutterbug Club members, David and Patricia were over for dinner one evening and after dinner we ran out to take this shot. This lasted only a couple of minutes, I'm sure glad that Patricia saw the beautiful sunset in time. At the time I needed one more good photo of a sunset as the last special category for this year at the club was "sunsets".
This was good enough for an Honorable Mention, I knew from seeing David & Patricia's entries that they stood a good chance to take 1st through 3rd between them, at least in my opinion. I hope to have their entries up next week so you can see why I thought they should win. . . Here's a clue, they were taken on their trip to Hawaii last May.

"Shadows"
This one of mine is also a Honorable Mention last month. This was taken on the Oklahoma City Photowalk that was part of Scott Kelby's World Wide Photowalk in August. Our Photowalk leader, Robert Trawick, arranged to have some models along our walk, so not only did we have the Oklahoma City downtown area to photograph, we had four stops along the way with a series of models to photograph.
More of my photos
I'm still trying to get a hold of this idea of blogging, and I still only have my photos to show. I promise I'll only put up the ones that have won. This one is called "In Flight". The humming birds stayed until Oct. 10th this year, so I took a lot of hummer photos. This received a Honorable Mention in last months competition.
